Ever since the release of the PowerBook G4, and with the exception of the plastic models, Apple has exclusively released its MacBook laptops in aluminum gray. But according to a new rumor, that may not last much longer: When Apple debuts the rumored 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina Display next year, it could come in two new colors: space gray and gold.
Citing a person familiar with the product pipeline, the rather dubious-sounding blog A Tech Website says the 12-inch MacBook Air will come in a range of colors, including gold and space gray, as well as the current aluminum color.
According to the blog, Apple is eyeing a mid-2015 launch. But if Cupertino doesn’t make that deadline, don’t blame the generically named, disputably sourced A Tech Website! They claim Apple has pushed back the release of the Retina MacBook Air “multiple times.”
There’s no reason Apple can’t do this, of course. The same anodizing process used to make aluminum iPhone backs gray and gold would work just as well on the MacBook unibody clamshells. Likewise, Apple is upping its game with customization options in 2015, particularly where the Apple Watch is concerned.
Even so, let’s treat this rumor with a grain of salt. The source has no proven history, and may well just be embellishing a wave of more reputable rumors about the 12-inch Retina MacBook Air debuting in 2015. We’ll have to wait to pass judgement, but I’m skeptical, to say the least.

Worst photoshop attempt, ever.
Indeed it is.
You have obviously not seen some of the shit made with Photoshop
Ive been looking forward to a black macbook pro since they stopped making the black A1181’s.
Um… no…
Don’t like the gold MacBook Air? Well, it could be worse…
for the time, these were actually very cool.
Photoshop lvl noob
Space gray.
And that fake gold Macbook looks like piss.
If it was white with gold accents (like the iPhone) I could get on board. Otherwise… hmmm…
That is nasty. I don’t see Apple doing computers in colors.
I can see Apple doing a space grey MacBook but I just can’t image them making a gold MacBook.
If they do make a gold one, Persians will be tripping over each other to get one.
BLACK – YES, GOLD – TAKE THIS SHIT AWAY FROM MY EYES PLEASE!
P.S. You might be need someone who can do Photoshop.
